That's my last Chuppah-themed-pun post title. I promise.
But I am ready to cheer. The Chuppah is done! With 5 full days to spare, I might add. Karen did a wonderful job on the quilting.
Each block (save for 4 we opted not to quilt) has a fan design. The outer border is a lovely twining shape- perfect for a wedding. And I spent all afternoon yesterday planted in front of a movie, getting the binding on.
Look at me, teasing you with a corner shot. I don't have a great photo of the whole thing. It's pretty big- 78x78- too big for one Hubby to easily hold up for a quick snapshot... But I had to get one anyway, to share with you all. I plan to take LOTS of photos at the wedding on Saturday (esp as i am the mom of a Flower Girl and a Flower Boy...), so more to come, but meanwhile, here you go...
It's just so great! Any marriage started under this much love is bound to do well, right? If you'd like to see all the individual squares, you can click here.
Meanwhile, life other than that is also good. We're about to refinance our mortgage, which is stressing me out, but will make me feel better when all is said and done. And we had the ultimate Western Weekend- on Saturday, we went to the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo.
It's time for me to come clean about something. I LOVE the rodeo. I claim to be an East-coast big city girl. But 8 years ago when we first moved here, and attended our first ever rodeo, a bull-riding fan was born.
I'll never be a buckle-bunny or anything. But I love me some PBR action. I've even been known to tune in on TV, though live and in person is so much better. It's my Nascar, I guess you could say. So 3 hours of rodeo fun is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon, in my opinion. Still, as much as I love the stock Show, even I found my breaking point this time.
Do you see it? It's just so wrong. The cowboy in front of us ordered one. At least, he was repulsed by the final product too. **ETA**It's not just a hunk o' spam on a stick. It's basically a Spam corn dog. A hunk o' Spam deep fried inside a cornbread type batter. According to aforementioned cowboy, the cornbread was not cooked enough, leaving the spam inside a soupy outer coating. Nuff said.**
I guess I'll leave you on that note! Happy Monday, all.
The finished quilt looks great. If the house where the shower is has a tall staircase, maybe the guests could hold the quilt over the bannister on the second floor (or on the stairwell) to get a good shot of quilt+guests.
No more puns? But the Superbowl is Sunday (don't they say "hup" or something like that) :O)

Hooray it's done!! Yayyy!! No more stressing for the Chuppah! :D
Now what exactly am I looking at on the price board....first thing that jumped out at me was 3 bucks for a freaking bottle of water??? Good golly then I think nahh it's not that...it has to be the spam on a stick...seriously? Gross...that's worse than pogos.

Yummm...SPAM!! And on a stick! Bonus!

I went to a rodeo once and it was great fun!! Here's some trivia for you- rodeo and lumberjack competitions are the only sports based on an industry. (I have a "thing" for lumberjacks, that's how I know this. Oh, and Mounties. It must have something to do with growing up in the artic air....)
Spam's not that bad! I got sucked into trying some in Hawaii, it's practically sacred there and always a meat option with any breakfast. Although I'd never buy it at a store for my own consumption I'm not quite as grossed out by it as I used to be. And $5????? Crazy, crazy I tell you........

What an inspiring chuppah. I made a chuppah last year for my nephew's wedding. It's on a special web site

Looks great!
I was momentarily distracted by the strawberry lemonade...SPAM on a STICK!?!?
WTH? That is crazy. And how does it stick to a stick?? Maybe it's better not to know.

The chuppah has turned out wonderfully. Love the border fabric and the quilting too. It's sure to give the couple a wonderful start to their married life!

Ok, spam is just -- WRONG. And I can't fault you for your rodeo luv -- I'm a closet (or not so closet as the case may be) professional wrestling fan. If it's Monday night -- I'm watching RAW.

although I like most "on a stick" carnival/rodeo food things, I gotta say Spam?! does not sound good!

I'm assuming a corn dog is not a hot dog made from corn??! I'd be ordering the nacho's from that menu! Quilt looks stunningSam, well done! It will be treasured.

great finished chuppah! I think you pulled it off great. M is a bull riding fan, if it's on tv, it's playing. I remember eating spam when I was a teen-ager...LOL...but on a stick..no thanks. typical prices though-same at our big event places..

The quilt is awesome! They will treasure it!
I used to be married to a cowboy...does that make me a buckle bunny?

The quilt is wonderful. I hope the couple cherish it.
Spam is so nasty. Dan's brother used to fry spam when he lived with us many years ago. The smell took forever to go away... yuck.

Chuppah came out beautifully! Great job in pulling so many people together to make the blocks and then getting it all done before the BIG day! And events... I have a GREAT insulated bag - pb&j/drinks/etc - but some places don't let you bring in food. Glad to hear you enjoyed the rodeo - probably guilt free too as you would not have had chuppah thoughts nagging at the back of your head. Yeah! Or should I say... yeeee-haw!
Cheers!
