What a weekend... I went to Springfield, had dinner with a fabulous friend who had the nerve to move away last year, went to a quilt workshop, finished my doll quilt for the Doll Quilt Swap II, and even went to the aquarium with the kids. I also got progressively less and less miserable all weekend. (Thank you all for the allergy related well wishes and suggestions! They were much appreciated.) There is now some question as to whether I might be allergic to something actually in my office. Possibly, horribly, a new co-worker (cologne and cig. smoke). The allergies seem to coincide with his arrival. We're trying to figure out what the next step might be in this situation.
What should I tell you about here? I could make this a super long and photo heavy post, but I think I'll break up the above-mentioned activities. Alright, since I'm one of the few participants who HASN'T shared my doll quit project, today is all about that. (I just missed the big post by my Swap Mama, too. Silly me.)
In a color scheme that I think hope my partner will like, I struggled to come up with a unique idea. I started with disappearing 9 patches, got bored with that, was inspired by Stashmaster's perfect tiny flying geese, and then decided I wanted to do disappearing 9 patches after all!
I started here:
All MY faves in one place- Anna Maria Horner, Freshcut, Kaffe Fassett, Martha Negley, and even batiks! A total stash piece, save for the cream. Shockingly, I had none on hand. And then after some initial piecing, I went here.
Which led me here...
and then, eventually here.
Finally...
You might notice I once again quilted wonky and tight on purpose. I just love the effect it gives to these small pieces. These tiny quilts are addictive- I realize the entire blog world knew that before me, but, hey- I haven't seen the last Soprano's yet either (shhh, no spoilers, please!) Seriously, from first cut to bound in about 4 hours? What's not to love? Now, to get my package ready to go off to... ??????? I thought about not revealing the entire quilt until it was in the hands of its recipient, but, well, I haven't got the patience for that.
Wow, what a fabulous doll quilt. I adore the watermelon colors and all the fun fabrics! And your quilting is great, I just love it.

Oh, wow, this is fantastic! I did disappearing nine-patch for the swap, too, and it looks completely different. I'll have to try one with more fabric variety ~

It's fascinating to see how you pick out the colours and fabric, and then make that fantastic doll quilt. I bow down to you!!

Hi, I just found your blog via google when I did a search for Bento boxes. I have only had a brief look, but I'm coming back to look properly soon - you do such lovely stuff.
