Yikes, better get the pun police. I deserve sanctions for that title, but if I kept a pun that bad bottled up inside, it's possible I might just explode!
Wicked was so much fun, and worth every penny we ended up spending after tickets, dinner, and 7 hours of a babysitter (don't ask, it might kill you to know how much). The Hubby and I met up after work, all in our lovely clothes. I broke out some shocking purple heels that probably didn't work with my outfit, but they were fun to wear. We stuffed ourselves silly at a yummy Italian restaurant - I even got my favorite, a Cosmo, and Tiramisu! We then headed over to the theater. I admit- I did pull my snotty East Coast thing and whine about how people dress to go to the theater in Denver. It will never cease to be amazed by people in jeans and not especially nice polo shirts at a major art event like this. And then I pulled my whiny "I grew up in London and theater *always* starts on time there" routine as the curtain went up 10 minutes late. And then Wicked began, and from the first second, I was, well, enchanted.
It is amazing and if anyone ever has a chance to see it, miss a credit card payment to get the tickets! Truly. The story is wonderful- I have always love the book , and it's unique twist on an old story. The musical pulls everything toegther in a way that is both personally and politically relevant. And, Fiyero was pretty darn hot, too!
(Photos shamelessly downloaded from the official Wicked site. ) And if anyone is looking to buy me a present, I'll take Elphaba's necklace and a Defy Gravity baseball shirt.
We got home shortly before midnight (ya know, the witching hour), and today I am admitting that I am far too old to stay out to midnight TWO work nights in one week. Today sort of hurts. But in a really happy, I got to do two amazing things in one week kind of way. Tomorrow we descend into birthday party hell (two at the same time) so I'm hoping my good glowing mood will carry me thru!
