So, shortly after I last dropped by the blog, and told you how my mom thinks I should slow down, and do less, and all that, the universe decided it was high time I learned a lesson.
About going too fast.
Namely, don't do it in the car.
Yes, that's right ladies and gentlemen, at age 30 years and not quite 11 months, I got my first ever speeding ticket.
Don't you hate it when your mom is right? Even if this wasn't exactly what she meant?
And here's the craft related content of this post. And the irony, too.
I got nailed on the back road between the super JoAnns and an LYS. I was on my way from JoAnns, where I scored some crazy novelty fabrics for some co-worker holiday gifts (expect to see them soon), and didn't score some size 13 DPNs, to the Knitty Cat, where I hoped to find size 13DPNs for less than $21, as they were at a different LYS. So, I did save $12 on the needles. Which would make the ticket only $88.00 If you want to think of it that way.
Yeah, $100.00 for 10 measly miles over. On a major road. With many lanes. NOT in a residential area. Grumble. (No, I do not condone reckless driving, but in all fairness, there was no one else on the road and I didn't realize I was speeding- I wasn't passing anyone or anything. Until the flashing lights kicked up behind me. Usually, I'm a very good driver. As demonstrated by my until-now spotless record!)
Want to cheer me up? Tell me about your speeding tickets, parking tickets, or arrests ;-)... Leave me a comment that will let me know I'm not alone on the road of shame. C'mon, everyone else is (sort of) doing it. And hey, I'll randomly pick two commenters for a little treat. (Or rather, my random pickers PG and TB will pick one each...) No idea what that will be, but it will be something. Really! My random pickers will spring into action Sunday evening, leaving you until Sunday, 11/18/07, at noon MST to leave me a tale of police related woe... And if enough of you do, maybe I'll share the story about the time I was pulled over for brandishing a gun at a police station. It's a true tale...
Meanwhile, I'll be back with photos soon. I quilted the cousin quilt, and have the binding half on. I also have the binding half on Snakes on a Bed. And I'm 1/2 way done with my mom's Clapotis- the photos is a few days old now.
Oh, and I'm all the way done with PG's socks!
And there is progress on the husband gift, too. Which you Ravelers can go see, should you want to.
Now, back to living in shame...
